Hira Bahadur Thapa

Mr. Hira Bahadur Thapa was associated with Nepal’s Foreign Office for almost three decades. As part of his work in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served diplomatic missions in Cairo, Egypt (1990-1994) and in New York, USA (1998-2002). His last title before retirement in July 2009 was Foreign-Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister.

Mr. Thapa has authored several books, the most recent being Diplomacy in the Changing World.  His previous books include A Renewed Debate on Disarmament, Climate Change & Diplomacy (2010), Selected Essays on Foreign Relations (2009/2010) and A Critique of Current Affairs (1995).

He writes extensively on global contemporary issues, and specially on international security for various print and media publications in Nepal, most notably The Rising Nepal and Republica.
